The true clear finish and soap-and-water cleanup makes it easy to apply. Unlike wax-based clears that sit on top of the surface and wear away, Clear Wood Protector penetrates deeply into wood fibers to long-lasting protection. Coverage Approximately 100-250 sq. ft. (9.3-23.2 m2) per gallon. Where to use Cabot Clear Wood Protector is excellent for new or reconditioned wood decks, porches, outdoor furniture, steps and railings. Also suitable for stone, masonry, brick and concrete. Preparing your surfaces Be sure surface is free of all dirt, mildew stains, loose wood fibers and other foreign matter. In order to be effective, product must be able to penetrate. Surfaces must be sound, and may be dry or damp. If damp, the wood should be free of puddles and not feel wet. Prepare previously stained or weathered surfaces with Cabot® Wood Cleaner, Wood Brightener or Wood Strippers. On untreated weathered surfaces, scrubbing with a stiff bristle brush or sanding may be required to completely remove all loose wood fibers. Application Apply with nylon or polyester brushes, stain pads, low-pressure garden sprayer or professional spray equipment. When spraying, always back-brush immediately. To ensure desired appearance and proper drying time, always finish a small test area before proceeding. Shake and stir thoroughly before and during use. If project requires more than 1 container, blend all containers together to ensure uniformity. Reapply every 1-2 years depending on exposure. Use caution when standing or walking on surfaces still wet after the application of Cabot Clear Wood Protector, as the surface may by slippery. Cleanup and Disposal Clean brushes and equipment with soap and water. Dispose of empty cans or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
